Intelligent Christianity

Welcome to Collingswood Presbyterian Church. We are a community of faith where the Gospel of Jesus Christ encourages us to pursue our individual spiritual journeys so we are empowered to collectively strive to bring wholeness and healing our world, our community, and ourselves.

  • We follow the Jesus of Scripture (not always of the Church) who preached nothing but the Love of God!
  • We welcome and appreciate those who have been disappointed or rejected by other churches.
  • We support both our members and our community!

Together, we will grow in the knowledge and love of Jesus Christ as we learn and respond to God’s love for us, each other, and our world.

Transitions at Collingswood Presbyterian Church (CPC)

2023 has been a year of decision and transition. We have reached a stage in our mission and ministry where we have decided that our congregation needs to find a partner with whom we can continue our mission and ministry. Earlier this year, our church in agreement with the Presbytery for Southern Jersey approved the sale of our building to MAM Investments of Philadelphia. It is their intention to preserve the property and redevelop it keeping the building largely intact. The borough of Collingswood has indicated they are in favor of their plan and will help expedite its approval. We anticipate the sale will be finalized by October of this year.

What Next for CPC?

1) Worship at CPC has concluded but will continue at the First Presbyterian Church of Haddon Heights

The final regular worship service at Collingswood was conducted on Sunday, June 18. After June 18, CPC members have been encouraged to join with the congregation of First Presbyterian Church of Haddon Heights. They have been commended to their care and offered the opportunity to transfer their membership. In accordance with our Book of Order and per Presbyterian tradition, CPC members are free to join any PCUSA congregation. However, we hope they will join us at the First Presbyterian Church of Haddon Heights. Our congregation has systematically gone through the process of identifying a partner whose mission and values mesh well with ours.

2) Preschool will continue through June 2024

Our Kaleidoscope Kids preschool will remain in operation in the CPC building through June 2024. CPC is the owner and operator of the preschool. From the time the sale is completed until June 2024, CPC will rent space in our building so the preschool may continue its mission. After June 2024, the preschool plans to relocate to another location in the area.

3) The Memorial Garden will be relocated to Haddon Heights

Many have asked what will become of our wonderful Memorial Garden where the cremains of so many have been interred. Wonderful news! The stones and plaques at CPC will be relocated to the care of our partners at the First Presbyterian Church of Haddon Heights. A new Memorial Garden will be built, designed by a professional landscape architect. When ready, a special worship will be held to rededicate the stones and plaques to the Glory of God and the memory of all persons whose lives we have celebrated.

We welcome & affirm ALL people & families to our congregation & rejoice that God’s love is for ALL!

Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
