The Collection & Mission

The CPC library has developed over the years through generous donations. Our mission is to offer inspirational and thought-provoking materials to members of our congregation and religious education teachers and students, to encourage growth in Christian faith and knowledge, and to provide quality Christ-centered media for individual and family enjoyment.

Our collection includes books, magazines, videos, audio cassettes, DVDs, and CDs for adults and children on religion (Presbyterian and other faiths), and on contemporary social, political, and moral issues. Because the library is church-sponsored, you will find materials here that may not be available in public or school libraries. Bible study and Christian living are a focus of the collection. If you want to relax with a good story, we have these too, for all ages.

Classification System

The Library contains a variety of different Christian resources for all ages. For simplicity, we have used the Dewey Decimal System to categorize the books. The following prefixes have also been used in the collection call numbers:

FIC – Fiction VC – Video Cassette
B – Biography CD – CD-Rom
E – Easy Reading, picture books DVD – Digital Video Disc
Y – Youth, Young Adult AUDIOCAS – Audio cassette
REF – Reference PER – Periodical, magazine

We have tried, however, to include the publication date as the last part of the call number.
Call Number Examples:

  • E                          children’s book
LUC                     first three letters of the author’s (Max Lucado) last name
    1997                   the year of publication
  • FIC                      fiction book
BAU                     first three letters of the author’s (Charlene Baumbich) last name
    2002                   the year of publication
  • 248                     Dewey number for Christian Experience, Practice, Life
THO                    first three letters of the author’s (Marjorie Thompson) last name
    2005                   the year of publication

Online Library Catalog

The library catalog, hosted by, is linked to other libraries and includes reviews provided by other libraries. It includes all kinds of libraries, not just church libraries. We do not necessarily endorse recommendations or agree with reviews made by other religious or non-religious libraries. We have selected this host because it allows us to make our collection available to you online without the expenses of a full automation system.

To search the catalog, click on Library Catalog or go to You can search from this screen by typing your author, title, or keyword in the query box that says SEARCH YOUR LIBRARY or you may click on the YOUR LIBRARY tab to bring you to the actual collection. To search for an individual item, type the title, author, or keyword in the query box next to the PRINT button, and click on the SEARCH button.
